Mark Twain wrote: A genius is not very likely to discover himself; neither is he very likely to be discovered by his intimates; in fact I think I may put it in stronger words and say it is impossible that a genius - at least a literary genius - can ever be discovered by his intimates; they are so close to him that he is out of focus to them and they can't get at his proportions; they cannot perceive that there is any considerable difference between his bulk and their own.

Humorous expose of suburban life by the bestselling author and syndicated columnist. The story of lonely wives having lunch with their wigs, husbands fighting for custody of the lawn, the myth of the suburban orgy, what it's like to be a dieter in search of a lettuce that tastes like lasagne, and much more.

Barbara Rosenblat is an excellent choice to narrate this audiobook, but the book is dated (outdated, actually) and simply not funny. Rather, it's rediculous. I just could not finish it.
