The Good Girl is a riveting and suspenseful thriller that kept me engaged from beginning to end. Mary Kubica skillfully builds tension through shifting perspectives and a carefully paced mystery, creating a story that is difficult to put down. The audiobook format works especially well for this novel, allowing the different viewpoints to come alive through the performances of the narrators.
All four narrators--Lindy Nettleton, Johnny Heller, Tom Taylorson, and Andi Arndt--delivered excellent performances. Each brought a strong sense of character and emotion to their roles, making the different perspectives easy to follow and enhancing the overall listening experience. The narration was consistently engaging and helped maintain the suspense throughout the story.
For the most part, the plot felt believable, with realistic characters and situations that drew me into the mystery. However, the final big reveal pushed the limits of credibility and required a bit of suspension of disbelief. While the twist was effective in creating a dramatic conclusion, I had actually predicted it fairly early in the story, which reduced some of its impact.
Overall, The Good Girl is an entertaining and suspenseful thriller with outstanding narration. Although the final revelation was not entirely convincing and was somewhat predictable, the journey to get there was compelling enough to make this a worthwhile listen.
