According to the author's note at the end of this book, the plane crashes were actual events. It made for a very interesting backdrop for this complex story of human relations and growing up. The characters are fully developed and believable. Kathleen McInerney gives distinct and appropriate voices to these characters. Her performance is quite satisfactory.
